PSG are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba, who faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford

According to a report by The Sun, Paul Pogba is the subject of interest from PSG, who are looking to sanction a mega-money offer for him. The Frenchman has been mired in widespread speculation that has linked with a move away from Manchester United, either in January or next summer.

The Paul Pogba-Jose Mourinho saga has spiralled out of control in recent weeks, engulfing everything in and around Manchester United, who have been in an extended slump this month. Unsurprisingly, the negative publicity has given way to widespread speculation surrounding the futures of both the protagonists that are mired in it.

While Mourinho’s job is under threat, Pogba has been heavily linked with a move away from Manchester United for several weeks now. Thus far, Barcelona have been the leading candidates to swoop the French superstar away from Old Trafford. But, PSG have now emerged in his pursuit as well.

Les Parisiens are currently in a precarious situation over the future over the future of Adrien Rabiot. The French midfielder is reportedly set to run down his contract at Parc des Princes, having snubbed various offers of a new mega-money deal from PSG, and is rumoured to be on the radars of several big name clubs in Europe.

Should Rabiot indeed end up departing as feared, PSG will be left with Marco Verratti and Lassana Diarra as the only experienced midfielders, with the latter in the twilight of his career. Pogba is thus, a viable target to replace his compatriot, with the French champions set to test the resolve of Manchester United with a mega-money offer.

There are concerns that Financial Fair Play sanctions could be in the offing for PSG to curb their big spending ways. But, the Ligue 1 giants are confident that they will face no penalty, and will be able to swoop Pogba away from Manchester United next summer.

Barcelona, on the other hand, could be perturbed by Manchester United’s exorbitant price tag, which will likely shatter their club record for a player sale, if they indeed part ways with Pogba. PSG would thus, be in the driver’s seat, if and when they launch the offensive for the French superstar.

A departure from Old Trafford is still not a given though, with the report also suggesting that Pogba could stay if Mourinho leaves before he does. For now, it looks likely that Manchester United may have to let go of their prized possession, if he agitates for a move, with PSG a possible destination.
