Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard insists he is happy at his current club and will not leave the club amid strong speculations linking him with a move to Real Madrid.
During an interview with RMC Sport, Eden Hazard has committed his future with Chelsea despite speculations linking him with a move to Real Madrid. As The Sun understands, the Belgian is now happy at his current club and a move away from Stamford Bridge is far-fetched – at least for the time being.
Few weeks ago, however, the case was totally different as the former LOSC Lille superstar was hugely linked with a move to Bernabeu. Following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo earlier this summer, the Real Madrid hierarchy had identified Hazard as the ideal replacement with few reports claiming that they’re still firmly interested in his services this summer.
But, Hazard told French news outlet RMC Sport this week,”I am happy at Chelsea for now. I have two years left on my contract, and we will see what happens.”
He also sounded quite reasonable when asked about his potential move this summer, replying, “Leave this year? I won’t go. The transfer window in England is already closed. Players can leave, but clubs can’t make new signings. It would be strange for Chelsea’s people to let me go without signing anyone to replace me.”
This would come as a huge blow for Real Madrid, who are now devoid of options after failing to sign either of Neymar or Kylian Mbappe earlier this summer. Thus, they could face a huge problem as they look to replace Ronaldo within the remainder of this summer transfer window.
Los Blancos still boasts a significantly strong attacking unit despite the absence of Ronaldo, however, with the likes of Marco Asensio, Isco, Gareth Bale and Lucas Vazquez all raring to kickstart the new season. But, it was Ronaldo’s experience and quality which separated Real Madrid from all the other top clubs across Europe. And now that he’s gone, slowly but surely, Julen Lopetegui’s men could be heading into dire straits.
Hazard, on the other hand, seems to have made the right choice not to join the European champions this summer. The newly appointed Maurizio Sarri has already brought in massive improvements after taking over from Antonio Conte earlier this summer.
Indeed, the Blues have now won both of their opening two leagues games against Huddersfield Town and Arsenal respectively and are now looking set to pose a strong threat to the title this season. And Hazard, in that regard, could play a huge role, having already registered two assists despite featuring in just 43 minutes of Premier League action.
