Liverpool could be on the verge of shipping Loris Karius out on loan with Besiktas showing a keen interest on the German shot-stopper.

According to The Sun, Liverpool are facing a dilemma over their goalkeeping department with both Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet being linked with a move away from Anfield. Karius, in particular, is wanted by Besiktas on a season-long loan deal as they look to strengthen their goalkeeping department this summer.

The Turkish giants have had to deal with the departure of first choice keeper Fabri to Fulham earlier this summer. As a result, the Black Eagles are in the hunt for a proper replacement in the market.

It is believed that they had earlier attempted to sign Mignolet but later cooled off their interest due to his expensive wages. But, in the shape of Karius, they have found a viable alternative who has ample amount of experience in the top flight football.

Although Karius is notoriously known for making a couple of hideous mistakes that cost Liverpool the UEFA Champions League final defeat at the hands of Real Madrid, it’s also fair to say that he has shown immense talent during his time in Bundesliga.

He initially moved to the Premier League back in 2016, on the back of an excellent stint with FSV Mainz 05 that saw him become one of the highly touted keepers in the Bundesliga. But, his form in the English top flight was rather topsy-turvy to say the least as he failed to live up to the huge expectations shouldered on him when he first arrived at the club.

He made only 10 league appearances during his debut campaign and was merely a spectator throughout the first half of last season. But, since the turn of the year, Karius managed to regain his place as the number one keeper for Liverpool, thanks to his relatively consistent performances.

However, following the arrival of Alisson, it’s almost needless to say that Karius has been finally unseated from his position asas the Liverpool number one. Thus, a move away from the club makes sense given the fact that he is only 25 and still has time to redeem himself. And Besiktas, in that regard, could be an ideal destination.

As iterated earlier, the Turkish giants are without the services of a reliable keeper at the moment with club captain Tolga Zengin having entered the final phase of his career. Thus, a move to Istanbul will not only help him get regular playtime but also offer him an opportunity of reviving his career.
