Manchester United target Adrien Rabiot has reportedly rejected a contract offer from PSG, making his future even more uncertain at Parc des Princes
According to a report by French publication L’Equipe, Adrien Rabiot’s future at PSG has been thrown into further uncertainty, after he snubbed an offer a new long-term deal at Parc des Princes. Manchester United are among several clubs that are interested in signing the French international.
Rabiot has grown leaps and bounds since breaking into the first-team setup at PSG in 2012 at the nascent age of 17. The player has been one of the most key contributors for Les Parisiens in recent years, and is already an experienced head of sorts after amassing 207 senior appearances for the club.
However, his future at Parc des Princes has been the subject of intense uncertainty for a long time now, with PSG unable to agree terms with the 23-year-old over a new deal. His position in the French capital has alerted several clubs, with Manchester United among those interested.
The Premier League heavyweights cannot sign any more players this summer after the summer transfer window closed in England last week. But, Manchester United could well be planning for January already owing to Paul Pogba’s uncertain future at Old Trafford.
If the Frenchman indeed leaves Manchester United for Barcelona, as is being widely reported for several weeks now, Jose Mourinho will be in need of a top class replacement. And, Rabiot fits the bill for the Red Devils.
Manchester United’s chances of landing Rabiot on the cheap in January – or for free next summer – have now been boosted, with the player declining a new long-term contract at PSG. The 23-year-old is eager to start a new challenge, and has thus, rejected the new deal.
Thomas Tuchel also spoke about Rabiot’s uncertain future in the aftermath of PSG’s 3-0 win over Caen on Sunday, in which the player netted one of the goals, “I’m not certain he will stay. I want him to stay, but it’s up to him.”
But, Manchester United could well lose out on the young Frenchman, with Barcelona heavily linked with him as well. Juventus are also interested, but are only looking at the possibility of signing him for free next summer.
If Barcelona indeed decide to launch the offensive for Rabiot this summer, Manchester United would stand a great chance of keeping hold of Pogba. If not, the Red Devils could end up making a move for their target man, either in January or next summer.
Only one thing seems certain for now – Rabiot’s time at PSG seems to be coming to an end. The 23-year-old will surely be a hot property in the transfer market, in the coming days and beyond, provided he remains at Parc des Princes beyond this month.
