Manchester United are reportedly interested in Ousmane Dembele and have joined Arsenal in race to land the World Cup winning Barcelona superstar.
Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo have speculated the entry of Manchester United in the race to sign Ousmane Dembele. The Barcelona winger looks set to depart the club after just one season at the Nou Camp. And, it looks like the Premier League is his destination, with Arsenal and Manchester United interested.
Barcelona witnessed Ousmane Dembele’s maiden season in Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund and moved to land the Frenchman for a three-figure fee. But, the winger has failed to show the same spark at Barcelona after sealing his move to Spain.
Granted, a fair bit of the 2017-18 season was marred by injuries. But, the Frenchman still did not enjoy the best of times in his debut season in Spain, despite a decent record of 3 goals and 7 assists in 17 La Liga matches – 930 minutes of league football in total.
Barcelona have signed Malcom to beef up their options on the wing. But, the Brazilian will be a direct competitor to Ousmane Dembele, with both the players fancying the right side of attack. This has seen the Frenchman seek newer pastures, with no dearth of interest in the winger.
Unai Emery may have the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan at his disposal. But, Arsenal do lack options out wide in attack. Ozil and Mkhitaryan may be deployed out wide but are not natural wingers, which could see Emery demand a player to fill the position.
The transfer market was sent into frenzy as Ousmane Dembele was snapped with several of Arsenal stars. But, there has been no development in Dembele’s movement towards Premier League.

Manchester United’s entry though, could speed up things. Jose Mourinho boasts of several talented wingers. But, none of them have been able to shine on the right, with Juan Mata the only reliable option.
The Red Devils are in search of an able right winger to add to the squad. Manchester United have been frustrated in their search of a right winger. Ivan Perisic is unlikely to arrive, which means United will have to look elsewhere.
United’s failure to land a right winger has already seen them give up one Premier League title. Their incapability to reinforce the right side of attack could spell doom on their chances of landing the Premier League title in the 2018-19 campaign as well.
Anthony Martial has been linked with a move away from the club. Ousmane Dembele would serve as an able replacement and rather, a better-suited player to the needs of Manchester United and Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United will have to stump up a hefty amount, with Barcelona reportedly seeking at least €100 million for Dembele. But, the Red Devils are desperate to add a right-sided winger to their squad and if Martial does end up leaving, they would be able to neutralise the outlay, to an extent.
This looks like a deal that could happen, albeit only if Manchester United do intend to pursue Ousmane Dembele.
