Chelsea are not ready to give up on their chase of Jack Grealish and are plotting a hijack of Tottenham’s pursuit of the Aston Villa star.
The Sun are claiming that Chelsea are not ready to concede interest in Jack Grealish. The Aston Villa star has been tipped to seal a move to the Premier League, with Tottenham billed as the favourites to land the Englishman. But, Chelsea are prepared to hand Spurs a defeat in the transfer market as they eye another hijack of a Tottenham target.
Nobody has been able to forget the Willian saga. Chelsea stole the transfer of the Brazilian winger and his contribution towards the Blues’ success is there for all to see. Jack Grealish could be prone to a similar event, with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy reluctant to meet Aston Villa’s demands.
Aston Villa were in a phase of financial uncertainty and Levy was hoping to take advantage of the situation. But, the takeover has stabilised the finances of the iconic English club, which has now put Tottenham in the backseat and prone to being beaten in their pursuit of Jack Grealish.
As far as Grealish is concerned, the player had already taken his baby steps in the Premier League as a youngster for Aston Villa before the club was relegated to the Championship. In the second division though, Grealish has managed to improve himself and imprint his authority within the first-team setup.
Aston Villa did come close to achieving promotion to the Premier League, only to lose to Fulham in the decider – the Championship Playoff final. The player was tipped to be leaving for the Premier League when Villa had financial troubles. With the financial status restored, Villa now aim to retain the player.
But, the club will not stand in way if offers from the Premier League matching Grealish’s valuation do come in. Tottenham are yet to secure any addition to their squad in the summer transfer window so far. Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly an admirer and sees Grealish as a future superstar if brought in at Tottenham. Daniel Levy’s tactics though, could hand them a defeat.
Chelsea seemed set to land Aleksandr Golovin. The Russian though, chose to sign for AS Monaco in what was a body blow to the Blues. But, the club are now setting sights on the Villa star as an alternative. Chelsea are aware of Tottenham trying to seal a £20 million deal for him.
Chelsea are ready to move quick and hijack Grealish from under Tottenham’s grip. John Terry praised the young Englishman recently and Chelsea could use their legend in an attempt to try and convince Grealish to reject Spurs in favour of a move to Stamford Bridge.
Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping Levy gets the job done quickly. Lest they fear losing out on another target.
