Real Madrid president Florentino Perez wants to add the experience of Leonardo Bonucci to his defence ahead of next season.

Florentino Perez is keen to add to his defensive ranks and has stumbled upon the idea of targeting experienced Italian defender, Leonardo Bonucci. According to Don Balon, Real Madrid are giving heed to the idea of bringing the AC Milan defender to the Santiago Bernabeu, intending to adding experience to their backline.

Perez reportedly wants a partner for Sergio Ramos, one who is experienced enough to get into the first-team action immediately. Leonardo Bonucci’s name has come up, and the La Liga giants could as well make a move for the defender in the current transfer window.

Madrid, currently have the likes of Raphael Varane and Nacho, who are yet to convince most people of their starting berth. Despite being a regular centre-half, Varane recently winning the World Cup with France, Perez is still on the lookout for an established and experienced player to partner Ramos.

The links to the AC Milan defender come after it was revealed of the struggles for the San Siro club to maintain their financial position as they were banned from Europe for not following FFP regulations. This means Milan need to generate funds to balance their books, which could see them sell some of their established stars, including Bonucci.

Bonucci, made a shock move last summer to AC Milan from rivals Juventus that cost the San Siro club a reported €42 million. The 31-year-old, however, had a torrid season in Milan colours as the club finished in a disappointing sixth position on the Serie A table.

But Real Madrid are not alone in the race to sign the star Italian defender, with Chelsea and PSG also considering making a move. PSG are thought to be the side more interested in the defender, whose President Nasser Al-Khelaifi will play his cards and could use the influence of Gianluigi Buffon and other players in the team to prise Bonucci away to Paris.

There could be serious movements from AC Milan in the summer, and the 31-year-old Bonucci could be one of the star names from the team to leave. Real Madrid will undoubtedly want to add the defender to their ranks and could be ready to pay what Milan would demand for their star man.
