Transfer News: Chelsea plotting £30 million bid for Jack Butland

Chelsea are reportedly ready to bid in the region of £30 million in order to prise England’s second-choice goalkeeper Jack Butland from Stoke City.

According to The Sun, Chelsea are already looking for players to replace Thibaut Courtois at the club. One of the names that has been linked with the Blues for a long time has popped up again. Jack Butland, who is also of interest to Liverpool, has emerged as a priority target again for the London based club.

Thibaut Courtois has never kept secret of his desire to return to his family in Madrid. And the Belgian is reportedly now on the chopping block at Chelsea. The Blues are now open to offers for him after the keeper did not renew his deal at the club.

While Real Madrid are one of the parties in the hunt, links with PSG have also been doing the rounds. To tackle the goalkeeping conundrum, Chelsea have already stepped into the market for one.

Alisson is reportedly a primary target for Chelsea, who is also on the radar of Liverpool, Real Madrid and many other top clubs. Gianluigi Donnarumma is also a name that has popped up. But, the rumours of a move for Jack Butland have resurfaced.

Jack Butland recently suffered relegation with Stoke City. The English international is currently a part of the England squad at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. But, it is almost certain that the second-choice National Team star will not want to play Championship football for a season. A move beckons.

Liverpool have also been eyeing Jack Butland as one of the many candidates for the number one spot at Anfield. But, there have been recent reports that the club will likely put their faith in Loris Karius if they cannot land Alisson or one of their other desired targets.

Chelsea are looking to bid in the region of £30 million for Jack Butland, a fee that will tempt Stoke City. The recently relegated side can use the influx of cash to invest in other areas to mount a serious campaign to return immediately to the top flight.

But, according to reports, Stoke City will attempt to retain the services of Jack Butland. The Potters are ready to offer Butland a £20,000 per week pay rise on his current deal. This may not seem a lot but the rise will put his wages at £80,000 per week.

Jack Butland could become the highest paid Championship star in the 2018-19 campaign. The report adds that Butland is interested in committing his future to Stoke. But, if a chance to be the first-choice at a club like Chelsea or Liverpool does pop up, it will be incredibly hard for Butland to resist their advances.

Money should not be the factor for Jack Butland at this stage of his career. The English international is long overdue a move to a big club. And now, the circumstances seem to be in his favour. All that is left now is for him to make the right decision.
