Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly tracking Girona sensation Pedro Porro, who has also been linked with Premier League champions Manchester City.
Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo are of the opinion that Pedro Porro is being tailed by the two biggest clubs in Spanish football. Barcelona and Real Madrid are both tracking the Girona wonderkid, which could be bad news for Manchester City, who were also closely following the youngster’s progress.
Pedro Porro is an 18-year-old Spanish footballer who has emerged from the Girona youth setup. The midfielder has already made his senior debut for Girona FC, featuring for the club in their 1-1 draw against Levante in Copa del Rey.
Porro is highly rated within the Girona setup and as is the case with most Girona players, Manchester City have been casting a keen eye on the 18-year-old. But, Barcelona and Real Madrid have joined the chase and their entry could spell trouble for the Citizens.
Porro’s record of 3 goals in just 88 minutes of 2nd division football has piqued the interest of the top clubs. At Barcelona, there seems to have been created a dearth of able central midfielders to usher in the next era of dominance in Europe, especially players who can peak like Andres Iniesta and Xavi.

La Masia is one of the main focus of Barcelona, after a small exodus of players from the fabled youth setup. Porro’s capture would be a step in the right direction. But, Real Madrid’s newly established transfer policy sees them forge a youthful look for the squad as well.
Porro, despite his age, is a talent that interests both Barcelona and Real Madrid. In the Premier League, there are admirers as well, none more prominent than Manchester City. Pep Guardiola is looking to strengthen his midfield and is not afraid to field youngsters, if he feels the player is prepared to take the field.
The Girona youngster though, is genuinely, the pearl of the club right now. Having already signed three contract extensions with the club over the past year, Porro looks determined to earn himself a name at Girona first.
The 18-year-old will be part of the pre-season with the first-team and there are reports that there is a fourth deal in the works, which would ensure Porro remains at Girona, at least for the time being.
