Robert Lewandowski has reportedly been offered to Chelsea and Manchester United amid claims that the Real Madrid target wants to leave Bayern Munich.
Robert Lewandowski is said to be looking for a new challenge outside Germany, with Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly offered the services of the striker by his agent Pini Zahavi, according to German Publication SportBild. It is further being claimed by Bild that the fee could be as much as €200 million, which would possibly become the new transfer record.
Robert Lewandowski arrived at Allianz Arena on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2014. Since then, the Polish striker has been an integral part for Bayern Munich, as he bagged 151 goals in 195 appearances for the club making him the 5th highest scorer in the club’s history, and his 29 league goals in the 2017-18 campaign helped Bayern Munich win the league for the record sixth time in a row.
Last month, Lewandowski’s agent Pini Zahavi put clubs across Europe on alert by declaring that his client was looking for a move.
Zahavi said,”Robert feels he needs a change and a new challenge in his career. The administration of Bayern knows about that.”
Since then the 29-year-old striker is in demand after he revealed that he wants to quit Bayern to face a new challenge. Chelsea is interested in signing Lewandowski, as they look to upgrade their front line after their £60 million signing Alvaro Morata failed to perform for the Blues and his rapid decline led to the signing of Oliver Giroud from Arsenal in January.
According to several reports, Alvaro Morata is edging towards a move back to Juventus, and Oliver Giroud’s inconsistent records have put Chelsea in a desperate position to sign a quality-proven player in attack.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are expected to splash the cash this season as Jose Mourinho aims to keep up with Manchester City this season. Manchester United have already completed the signings of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred and Porto right-back Diogo Dalot.
A lack of alternatives to Romelu Lukaku in attack, made United’s attack look toothless at times. Hence, Lewandowski’s arrival at Old Trafford would be in the best of Jose Mourinho’s interests. Although, it is claimed by Bild that Lewandowski is not interested in the offers made by Chelsea and Manchester United and has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid.
Robert Lewandowski made the free transfer switch to the Allianz Arena in 2014, in hopes of securing a Champions League title with Bayern Munich, and despite being managed by Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti and Jupp Heynckes, he has never made it past the semi-final stage with the club. Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s glorious three-peat in Champions league is surely luring Lewandowski towards Los Blancos.
Bayern Munich has expressed their approval to negotiate for Lewandowski and are aware of his plans, but a high money sum in exchange for the player is the only hindrance to a potential move for the Polish striker this summer. It is still a big question, whether Real Madrid will shatter the transfer record yet again for the 29-year-old striker or will Lewandowski end up staying at the club.
