Chelsea are reportedly willing to cut their losses on club record signing Alvaro Morata in the summer, with Juventus waiting in the wings.

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata could be offered a chance to return to former club Juventus in the upcoming summer transfer window as per reports from the Italian outlet Tuttomercato (h/t The Sun).

The report claims that the Serie A outfit are looking to bringing back the Spanish striker who previously enjoyed a spell in Turin and Chelsea too, are open to the possibility of letting their star forward leave, just a season after they signed him.

Chelsea bought Morata last summer from Real Madrid in a deal worth £58 million, but have grown frustrated with the player’s performances of late. The 25-year old began life at Stamford Bridge with a bang, scoring seven goals in eight games, but has seen his form wane considerably since the turn of the year.

Morata, so far, has scored 11 goals in the Premier League in 29 appearances, but only one of those eleven has come in the current calendar year. As a result, the Spaniard has slipped down the pecking order behind French international Olivier Giroud, who the Blues signed from Arsenal in the winter transfer window.

And Juventus want to offer Morata a way out of his current misery. The Bianconeri are willing to sign the 25-year old on a season-long loan deal with the option to make it a permanent move. They would pay £13 million up front in a deal which would rise to £43 million in value if made permanent in the summer of 2019.

Morata spent two years with Juve between 2014 and 2016, having joined from boyhood club Real Madrid and had decent success, scoring 27 goals and chalking up 19 assists in 93 appearances, in the process winning two Serie A titles and two Coppa Italia trophies as well.

His impressive form with the Bianconeri saw Real Madrid sign him back in 2016, where he went on to enjoy a prolific season, contributing with 20 goals, helping Los Blancos to the La Liga and UEFA Champions League triumph.

Despite his struggles in West London this season, Morata’s stock remains pretty high in the transfer market and he has previously been linked with German champions Bayern Munich as well, with Die Roten reportedly eyeing him as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Spanish giants Atletico Madrid too have been credited with an interest in the former Real Madrid man.

Morata’s form may have dwindled in recent months, but there is no denying the fact that he remains a goalscorer of proven pedigree at the biggest level. With Paulo Dybala not being at his consistent best this season and chief goalscorer Gonzalo Higuain entering his thirties, a move for Morata makes complete sense for Juventus.

The player too, will be tempted to return to a club where he saw a great deal of success for two years. And the fact that the Bianconeri will definitely be playing in the UEFA Champions League could prove to be another incentive for Morata to jump ship at the end of the season.
