Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in signing David De Gea, who is also being targeted by Real Madrid for a summer move.

According to French outlet Telefoot, PSG are eager to make reinforcements at the back in the summer transfer window, with a goalkeeper a priority. Les Parisiens are eyeing a move for David De Gea, and are set to battle Real Madrid for the Manchester United number one.

De Gea has been one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s several success stories, having taken his career to unprecedented heights over the last seven years. The Spaniard, regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, is leading the race to win the Premier League Golden Glove for the first time this season.

So far this season, De Gea has kept 13 clean sheets, and is leading Thibaut Courtois (12) and Ederson (10). His exploits though, have also kept Manchester United looking over their shoulders against possible suitors, with long-term suitors Real Madrid and PSG interested.

Los Blancos, in fact, had nearly secured the services of the Manchester United number one in the summer of 2015, before failed paperwork scuppered the deal. De Gea continues to remain a priority for them though, with Keylor Navas struggling to remain consistent over the last 18 months.

But, Real Madrid now face stiff competition from PSG in pursuit of De Gea. Alphonse Areola has stepped up to a great extent this season, but the Frenchman has never managed to be the goalkeeper who can be a reliable, imposing presence between the sticks. De Gea is, thus, a viable target, who can arguably boost Les Parisiens’ goalkeeping options considerably.

But, Real Madrid and PSG face an uphill task in their bid to sign De Gea, with Manchester United looking to tie him down to a new deal, although talks over a renewal are reportedly yet to be initiated. To make the pursuit all the more challenging, the Spaniard himself has asserted that he is happy at Old Trafford.

All that shouldn’t deter Real Madrid and PSG though, with the duo set to launch the offensive for De Gea in the summer. It now remains to be seen if either of the clubs can manage to turn the 27-year-old’s head or if Manchester United succeed in tying him down to a new contract and secure his long-term future in the process.
