Arsenal superstar Hector Bellerin is reportedly keen on a return to Barcelona and could push for a move to Spain in the summer transfer window.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo are claiming that Hector Bellerin has set his heart on a return to his schoolboy club Barcelona. The Arsenal superstar was linked with a move to the Nou Camp multiple times in the past few transfer windows and it seems the Spaniard has finally made up his mind.

Hector Bellerin broke out at Arsenal in the 2014-15 season and has never looked back since. It is really a testament to his ability that, at the age of 22, he already has 151 senior appearances for Arsenal. However, the present campaign has been somewhat of a dull affair for the right-back.

Arsene Wenger’s preference to go with a 3-man backline saw Bellerin being pushed ahead to act more or less as a right midfielder, something that saw the Spaniard struggle. And, the 22-year-old has only found his old footing after he was reinstated as the right-back, with Wenger reverting to a back four.

Nevertheless, Arsenal look like a club in disarray, especially with the club not being able to produce positive results on a consistent basis, something that has seen them drift away from the top four race to an extent as they sit a massive 13 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham on the Premier League table.

Barcelona had been after Hector Bellerin for a while. But, the summer transfer window saw Ernesto Valverde snub Bellerin and sign Nelson Semedo in his stead, with Arsenal refusing to budge from their stance on Bellerin. While Semedo has failed to establish himself as a starter under Valverde thus far, the report states that Valverde is satisfied with the Portuguese and is willing to give him another season to adapt to life at the Nou Camp.

Thus, while Bellerin is now looking for a return to Barcelona in the summer, it is the current La Liga leaders that are snubbing him, with the club not interested in bringing the player back to the Nou Camp.

Barcelona’s stance does make sense in the fact that Bellerin has been largely underwhelming in the last 12 months. The summer transfer window still has a fair bit of time to go and a lot might change between now and the opening of the window.

For now though, Barcelona seem to be uninterested in pursuing Bellerin, who on the other hand, is looking to exit Arsenal, a club that will need a huge rebuild, if Arsene Wenger ends up leaving, a prospect that looks likelier with each passing match.
