Chelsea are reportedly set to battle Barcelona in pursuit of highly-rated teenager Yann Karamoh, who is impressing onlookers during his loan stint at Inter Milan.

According to The Mirror, Chelsea are looking to join the battle for Caen youngster Yann Karamoh. The highly-rated teenager, who is currently on loan at Inter Milan, has emerged on the radar of Barcelona as well, with his industrious performances in his debut season in Serie A.

19-year-old Yann Karamoh joined Inter Milan at the beginning of the 2017-18 campaign from Caen, on a two-year loan deal, with the Nerazzurri obliged to make the deal a permanent one at the end of his two-spell. And his start to life in Serie A, while not easy, has been impressing a lot of people.

Just 7 Serie A games under his belt so far, and a solitary goal to show for his efforts, it is his industry on the wing that has made clubs sit up and take note of the 19-year-old’s potential. Despite Inter Milan having agreed a deal to buy Karamoh outright at the end of the two-year loan deal, the ensuing interest from Chelsea and Barcelona could complicate matters.

At Chelsea, things are not going as smooth as it had gone in Antonio Conte’s maiden Premier League season in the 2016-17 campaign. Their most recent defeat at the hands of Manchester Untied at Old Trafford saw them slip outside the top four in Premier League while they face Barcelona in the second leg of the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea have Willian, Pedro and Eden Hazard as the options on the wings. But, Willian has been linked with an exit from the club while Eden Hazard’s links with Real Madrid have not subsided at all, with the player yet to sign a new deal at Chelsea.

Barcelona, on the other hand, have enough options at their disposal, especially after the arrival of Philippe Coutinho. But, Ousmane Dembele has been linked to an exit in the summer transfer window, which could free up a spot within the squad for Karamoh.

One thing of note though, will be the fact that Karamoh will stand a better chance of being a regular part of the starting eleven at Chelsea, which is also his preferred destination with the player known to have an affinity towards the illustrious Premier League.

Inter Milan will be looking to wrap up things as quickly as possible, perhaps, in an attempt to fend off interest from Chelsea and Barcelona. But, the two clubs might have some say in the matter, if Karamoh does iterate his desire to play for another club, be it among the two suitors or an entirely new club altogether.
