Transfer Rumour: Chelsea told to stump up £50 million for Radja Nainggolan

Chelsea have reignited their interest in Roma star Radja Nainggolan, with AS Roma willing to listen to offers around £50 million for the Belgian.

According to Transfer Market Web, Chelsea are back in the hunt for Radja Nainggolan, with the AS Roma board looking to cash on their prized asset. Nainggolan has been embroiled in a bust-up with the club after he posted a video of himself drinking and smoking on New Year’s Eve.

Chelsea have been in pursuit of Nainggolan for a long time, with a series of bids going in for the midfielder last summer. But, Roma managed to hold onto Nainggolan, eventually handing him a new four-year contract.

Nainngolan enjoyed a fantastic campaign time last season, scoring 14 times while providing 7 assists in 53 appearances. The Belgian is a fierce tackler of the ball and is handy contributor on both ends of the pitch. He’s also known for his long-range strikes and sliding tackles, in particular. And Chelsea have entered the market for him again

With Tiemoue Bakayoko still trying to find his feet with the Blues, Antonio Conte is desperate to add more fire-power in Chelsea’s midfield. Nainngolan is adept at playing both as a defensive as well an attacking and can forge a lethal partnership with N’Golo Kante, if things go Chelsea’s way.

Nainggolan is annoyed with the Roma board after he was dropped from the game against Atalanta due to his off-field antics. Nainggolan reportedly posted a video of himself smoking and drinking, which apparently didn’t go down well with the club’s hierarchy and resulted in them taking disciplinary action against him.

Nainggolan is also a target for Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande, managed by with Fabio Cannavaro keen on signing him. The Belgian hasn’t hit the ground running this season, scoring just a couple of times and could seek a move out of club to bolster his World Cup 2018 prospects.

It now remains to be seen if Chelsea launch an assault for the Belgian midfielder, although they will have to shell out £50 million to secure his services. AS Roma are set to make him available and a move might just see the light of the day.
