Chelsea are reportedly attempting to sign Arturo Vidal from Bayern Munich in January, and have tabled a €37 million bid to secure his services

According to W Radio Colombia journalist Pipe Sierra, Chelsea seem to have reignited their interest in Arturo Vidal. The Premier League heavyweights are aiming to land the Bayern Munich midfielder in the winter transfer window, and have lodged a bid worth €37 million to sign him.

Vidal is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world, having been an instrumental figure in the success that first Juventus and now Bayern Munich have achieved over the last few years. The player’s explosiveness and eye for a goal have helped him achieve tremendous success, and he is rightly a mainstay at the Allianz Arena.

This season, after a tough start to the campaign, the Chilean midfielder and Bayern have found some stability. Vidal has made 23 appearances in all competitions for the Bavarians so far, while the club has managed to secure the lead atop the Bundesliga table, while putting in improved performances in the Champions League as well.

Vidal though, could soon be on his way out of Allianz Arena, with Chelsea interested in signing him. The Blues have made numerous overtures previously to secure the 30-year-old’s services, albeit unsuccessfully so, with Bayern managing to keep hold of the player.

But, Antonio Conte seems to be adamant on finally completing his signing. The Chelsea boss has made his feelings known surrounding the kind of business that the Blues conducted in the summer, and is openly keen on bolstering his squad.

Chelsea currently have N’Golo Kante, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater and Cesc Fabregas in midfield, but summer arrivals Bakayoko and Drinkwater have been unable to stamp their authority so far, for one reason or another. Fabregas, on the other hand, has filtered in and out of the side since Conte’s arrival.

Vidal is, thus, a viable target for Chelsea, who could strike a dynamic partnership alongside Kante at the heart of midfield. And the Blues have tabled a €37 million bid to finally secure his services, as per Sierra.

Chelsea will have to improve their offer to secure Vidal’s signature, with Bayern Munich expecting nothing below €60 million for him. It now remains to be seen if the Premier League champions lodge an improved bid to sign the player, or if he continues to be a Bayern Munich player beyond January.
