Chelsea have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has fallen out of favour at Borussia Dortmund.
According to a report by Daily Mirror, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s spell at Borussia Dortmund looks set to come to an end in January. The Gabonese striker’s relationship with the German club has broken down completely, and Chelsea have been offered the chance to snap him up.
Aubameyang has long been one of the most prolific powerhouses in Europe, having enjoyed several highly productive campaigns with Borussia Dortmund. And after finishing the 2016-17 season as the Bundesliga top scorer, the player has been on a tear this term as well, with 17 goals in 19 appearances.
Despite being such an important contributor for the Bundesliga outfit though, Aubameyang has been constantly involved with controversy in the past few months, and after being suspended by Dortmund recently, the club seems to have had enough.

Dortmund have let potential suitors know that the 28-year-old will be on the market when the transfer window reopens in January. One such club is Chelsea, who have been in pursuit of Aubameyang for a long time, and have now been handed a major boost in their bid to sign the player.
Antonio Conte has very little beyond Alvaro Morata in terms of reliable striking options, following the departure of Diego Costa, with Michy Batsuayi failing to be consistent enough over the last fifteen months whenever given an opportunity.
While Morata has been quite prolific for the Blues, he has admittedly struggled with the demands of playing three games a week. With the Blues still competing on all four fronts, Conte needs to bolster his options in order to continue challenging for trophies this season.
At Chelsea, Aubameyang might have to share game time, but the Blues can possibly offer him the best route out of Westfalenstadion while still competing for a top club in Europe, with his dream club Real Madrid, or any other prominent outfit not showing any interest in signing him, yet.
The player’s disciplinary issues could prove to be a problem though, for Conte, although the Chelsea boss could solve his attacking issues to a great extent. It now remains to be seen if the Blues take up the opportunity to sign Aubameyang, or if they set their sights on some other targets in January, if at all.
