Transfer News: Chelsea to rival Tottenham in Richarlison chase

Chelsea are showing interest in Watford summer buy Richarlison and have reportedly joined Tottenham in pursuit of the Brazilian attacker.

According to The Sun, Chelsea are looking at Watford winger Richarlison as a potential addition to their attacking arsenal. The Blues have been impressed by the youngster’s instant impact in what is his debut campaign in not just England but the entire Europe in general and are set to battle Tottenham in pursuit of the Brazilian.

Richarlison has taken no time in adjusting to life in England after Watford beat a host of clubs in the summer to land the player from Fluminese. The youngster was thrusted straight into the senior squad by new manager Marco Silva, whose faith in the player’s ability to adapt and deliver seems to be paying off.

5 goals, 3 assists and 12 Premier League games into his Watford career though, there is already speculation surrounding his future, with Chelsea and Tottenham interested in the player. The London duo’s interest does make sense as well, with both the clubs looking for reinforcements in attack.

Tottenham have been looking to add to their options in the wing, with Moussa Sissoko unable to have much of an impact at the club. Spurs have been scouring other Premier League prospects like Riyad Mahrez. But, Richarlison could add an extra dimension to their attack with his directness while also being a viable long-term addition.

Chelsea too, are looking to add players to the said area, with Antonio Conte currently having Willian and Pedro while the former is being linked with a move away from the club after struggling to get starts under his belt in recent times.

Richarlison has only arrived in the Premier League and would only get better with more experience. Alternatively, one could see this as just the honeymoon period of the Brazilian youngster and it would be wise for the clubs to wait an entire season to see how consistent the 20-year-old ends up being through the course of it.

Any movement in January seems highly unlikely, with the player currently enjoying his football at Vicarage Road under a manager who seems to trust his ability. The summer might be different though, if Richarlison does wish to move higher up the ladder and compete in Europe as well, unless Watford are able to qualify for the same.

Interest from clubs like Chelsea and Tottenham should always be welcomed with open arms for it only goes to prove that the player is on the right path. And for Richarlison, it seems his journey has just begin and we might just be on the precipice of the rise of another Samba magician.
