Chelsea look to be set to lose Charly Musonda, who is frustrated with a lack of playing time, and Arsenal have emerged as a shock destination for the youngster.
According to French publication Foot Mercato, Charly Musonda could be set to call time on his Chelsea career soon. The Belgian has become frustrated with a lack of first-team action at Stamford Bridge and is looking for newer pastures already, with Arsenal one of the shock frontrunners for his signature.
Charly Musonda Jr. is the youngest of three brothers and is the son of former footballer Charly Musonda. The Belgian has been associated with Chelsea since 2012 and has often been hailed as one of the most prodigious youngsters in an era when the Belgians have risen in stature in the footballing world.
After years of hard work, the Belgian finally got his big break and got to don the Blues’ shirt this season – an emotional night he capped off with a goal. Musonda had rejected the chance to go out on loan in the summer to challenge for a spot in the first-team. However, that has not been the case at Stamford Bridge, with just 25 minutes of Premier League football.

The report states Musonda has already communicated his intention to the hierarchy at Chelsea and has also stated that he does not wish to extend his contract, which runs till 2019. And Arsenal are looking to pounce on the opportunity. The Gunners have already seen one Chelsea academy recruit in Eddie Nketiah take the world by storm at Emirates.
Musonda though, could be a part of the bigger picture from the get-go. Alexis Sanchez is all set to call it quits and with no renewal in sight, Arsene Wenger is looking to find a long-term replacement for the player. Charly Musonda could just be the answer.
While Arsenal have been linked with other potential replacements like Marco Reus, Musonda’s hunger to prove himself could be the catalyst of a great career. Arsenal are reportedly ready to make an offer to Chelsea if the Blues do decide to consider the prospect of letting Musonda leave.
Already residing in London, Musonda will not have to move too far and he could just become the Belgian superstar for a London team – just not Chelsea.
