Transfer Rumour: Real Madrid eyeing €200 million deal for Tottenham striker Harry Kane

Real Madrid are reportedly considering a sensational €200 million deal to land Harry Kane from Tottenham next summer.

According to a report by Spanish publication Don Balon, Florentino Perez has identified Harry Kane as his top target to reinforce the Real Madrid attack next summer. However, Los Blancos will have to shell out an astronomical sum of €200 million in order to secure the Tottenham striker’s services.

Kane joined Spurs’ youth ranks in 2004 after previously playing in Arsenal and Watford’s academies. The player, though, had to bide his time before establishing himself as a regular fixture in the North London club’s first-team setup, embarking on four different loan spells with lower league clubs.

However, since his breakout campaign four seasons ago, Kane hasn’t looked back, becoming the single most instrumental figure at Tottenham. His impact has been so pronounced that he won the Golden Booot in the last two Premier League seasons as Spurs emerged as genuine contenders for the title.

Last season, the 24-year-old had a stupendous record of 35 goals and 7 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions, and he has started the 2017-18 campaign in similarly lethal fashion as well, with 11 goals and a solitary assist in just 9 outings.

Suffice to say, he is rightly regarded as one of the best strikers in the game at the present moment. Thus, it comes as no surprise that one of the biggest clubs in the world is keen on signing him next summer.

Real Madrid have uncharacteristically struggled in front of goal for large parts of the early stages of this season, with a shockingly poor home record in La Liga by their lofty standards. The struggles of Karim Benzema, who has led the line for Los Blancos with aplomb for several years now, have been all too apparent as well.

The French striker could only score 19 goals in all competitions for Zinedine Zidane’s side as well, with only one goal in six appearances before a hamstring injury sidelined him. The report suggests that his the contract renewal that Benzema signed recently has also been agreed on to sell him for a handsome amount.

There are doubts over the sustainability of Gareth Bale as well, whose participation in the last two seasons has been sidelined for the large part by a spate of injuries. Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez is, therefore, eager to offload either Benzema or Bale and sign Kane as the replacement.

It goes without saying that Kane will be a valuable addition at the Bernabeu, but a player who will command a high value for his recruitment. The report claims that Tottenham are likely to command a price close to €200 million for the English striker.

Real Madrid are unlikely to hesitate in shelling out the figure for a player who has been identified as their top target. It now remains to be seen if Kane becomes the latest Tottenham player after Bale and Luka Modric to make his way to the Spanish capital, or if Spurs manage to retain his services.
