Everton boss Ronald Koeman is reportedly considering a late summer swoop to bring Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi to Goodison Park.

According to a report by The Sun, Everton are eyeing a late move for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, following the departure of Romelu Lukaku. It is understood that Koeman wants to add depth to his front-line and has identified Batshuayi as a priority target ahead of Deadline Day.

Michy Batshuayi has not had the best of debuts with Chelsea. He joined the Blues from Olympique Marseille, after proving to be a revelation for the French side. He was touted as a force to be reckoned with back then – but ever since he joined Chelsea, the striker has seen a significant dip in his form.

Despite that, the 23-year-old has a return of 11 goals and three assists to show for his efforts, from 28 appearances last season. It is not like he failed to shine for Chelsea though. Batshuayi enjoyed his time in the spotlight when he scored the decisive goal that sealed the title win for the Blues against West Bromwich Albion.

While he ended things on the right foot last season, he got off to a not-so-great start this time. He scored an own goal against Tottenham at Wembley. Luckily for him, Chelsea managed to win 2-1 but it seems like his future under Antonio Conte remains a tad bit uncertain.

The uncertainty was further propelled by the arrival of Alvaro Morata, while they are also believed to be closing in on a deal for Swansea City star Fernando Llorente. A move to Everton can eventually benefit Batshuayi considering he had to settle with acting as a back-up striker to Diego Costa for the entire course of last season.

The situation at Everton does not appear to be too bright either. Ever since Lukaku left, Koeman has been struggling with his attack. Although he did sign Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez, it has been clear from their performances so far that they need better options.

Rooney has played in a deeper role this season, while Ramirez is yet to get comfortable with his new side. Thus, this could be a brilliant opportunity for a player like Batshuayi, who is talented enough and has Premier League experience to emerge as one of Everton’s top strikers.
