Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly considering a late £15 million move for Swansea striker Fernando Llorente.

According to a report by The Sun, Tottenham are set to launch a late move to for Fernando Llorente, who has been a Chelsea target for months now. Pochettino is understood to be seeking support for his talisman Harry Kane, and has identified Llorente as a potential target.

Fernando Llorente is currently recovering from a broken arm suffered over the summer but is now back training. He is richly experienced at the age of 32 and has proven his Premier League quality after bagging an impressive 15 goals in his first season of English football.

As of now, it is believed that Llorente’s exit depends on Swansea’s ability to sign a replacement but the club are in talks with Manchester City over a deal for Wilfried Bony. Hence, an offer from Tottenham could prove to be quite enticing for Llorente.

That will come as a major blow for Chelsea since the Blues have been linked to him for quite some time. If the former Juventus player ends up at Tottenham, it will be another setback for Conte after losing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool.

Comparatively though, a move to Tottenham can benefit Llorente more than joining Chelsea. Joining the Blues would only allow him to play second fiddle to Alvaro Morata. At 32 years of age, the Swansea man will be looking to clock as much playing minutes as he can – especially after being deployed in a crucial role for the Welsh club.

At Tottenham, Harry Kane will lead the line for Pochettino like always, but the club are in need of a back-up forward who can provide support to Kane and also fill in for him to ease him of some pressure. Vincent Janssen has struggled to adapt to English football, and has been a let-down for Spurs in many of their important matches.

After coming close to winning the Premier League for two seasons in a row, Pochettino will be determined to ensure that this time, they fight hard to actually win the trophy. To do so, he needs to add more depth to his attack, thus making Llorente an ideal target.
