Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a swoop for Fulham whizkid Ryan Sessegnon, who is being tailed by Tottenham among several other clubs.

According to Sky Sports, Ryan Sessegnon is interesting Manchester United, who are in search of additions to the left side of the defence. The Fulham youngster is high on the agenda of many Premier League teams, chief among them being Tottenham, who have been in pursuit of the whizkid for a long time.

Fulham have already iterated that they are not in the mood to negotiate the youngster’s departure from Craven Cottage so early into his professional career, a stance Sessegnon seems to level with. However, in case the player or the club do end up changing their position, United are ready to pounce on the opportunity.

Ryan Sessegnon broke into the first-team setup last season at Fulham and impressed everyone with his performance on the left side of the defence. 7 goals and 5 assists in 31 appearances were enough for him to be heralded as the latest sensation and interest from top Premier League clubs followed suit.

Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal were all linked with Sessegnon. But, it is Tottenham that have been perennially tipped to be favourites for the 17-year-old. Spurs have Danny Rose to fill the spot, with Ben Davies as his competition.

However, Rose’s future is now in doubt after his explosive interview, with Chelsea and Manchester United exploring the possibility of bringing the player over to add to their respective rosters. Pochettino’s reputation of moulding young players is also another characteristic that has seen Spurs be in the lead for the youngster.

Sessegnon has started the season well, featuring in all of Fulham’s matches so far in this campaign. Manchester United have also started the season with a bang, with back-to-back 4-0 victories in the Premier League. However, the left side of the defence is an area that has been touted as a potential problem area for the Red Devils.

Daley Blind has slotted in well in both games. But, against Swansea, the player was often caught for pace, something that could lead to trouble in the coming matches. Luke Shaw has returned from injury but is likely to eased back slowly into the starting eleven.

Even the pundits seem to agree that left-back is an area could do with reinforcing at Old Trafford. And according to the report, United intend to launch the offensive if the 17-year-old is made available by Fulham.

The England Under-19 international, though, will be focused on maintaining consistency on the pitch and continuing his development while the transfers take their course. One thing is for sure though, Sessegnon’s move away from Craven Cottage seems to be a matter of when rather than if.
