Chelsea will reportedly be willing to offer €70 million in order to land Juventus’s Brazilian fullback Alex Sandro.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, in a bid to get Juventus to part with the Brazilian, Chelsea are also going to offer the Serie A Champions first priority on Manchester United and Inter Milan target Nemanja Matic, as they are reluctant to sell him to the Red Devils.
Chelsea are willing to let Matic go for a lesser price than the reported £50 million they are demanding from Manchester United as they would much prefer to see the big Serbian play abroad, than against them in English competitions alongside Jose Mourinho and their direct title rivals.
The Blues have been in the hunt for defensive reinforcements this summer and Alex Sandro has been their main target as Conte looks to add some more quality and depth to his options in wingback as Marcus Alonso and Victor Moses are the only ones available in that position.
The Blues were heavily linked with Sandro’s compatriot Danilo, but they lost out on the former Real Madrid defender to Manchester City this summer and that would have certainly motivated them more to go all out for the Juventus left-back.
Earlier in the summer it was reported that Chelsea were willing to offer €40 million for Sandro, but that fell short of the Bianconeri’s valuation of the player by some distance and they were instead told to cough up £52 million for the former Porto fullback.
Sandro, who is yet a sign contract extension with Juventus, was then reportedly the subject of a massive €56 million bid from Chelsea , which was rejected outright by Juventus and days ago and it was reported that the Blues were going to make an improved offer for the 26-year-old.
It is clear that Antonio Conte’s side need to strengthen in that position as they prepare for their return to the UEFA Champions League and there are a few players in the world, who would be a better fit for the Italian’s 3-4-3 system than Sandro.
Now Chelsea are expected to come back with a massive €70 million offer for Sandro, who has two seasons left on his current contract with the club and it remains to be seen whether a world record fee for a defender would convince Juventus to part with their prized fullback.
The Blues have done well so far this summer – adding Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen to an already impressive centerback lineup at the club. But they need to address the fullback area immediately and given their desperate position, may very well have to dig deep into their coffers to acquire top class reinforcements.
