Spanish champions Real Madrid are considering a shock summer swoop to sign Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero.
According to a report by Don Balon, Real Madrid are keen on securing a summer deal for Sergio Aguero after targeting him for quite some time now.
Aguero has perhaps been Manchester City’s most consistent performers ever since he joined the club from Atletico Madrid back in 2011. Six years have passed and yet Aguero is still in fiery form, establishing himself as a key figure at Etihad.
The Argentina international has had a role to play in almost all of City’s triumphs so far and his record only goes to prove exactly how powerful can be. He has scored 167 goals and provided 49 assists in 250 appearances across all competitions for the Cityzens.
He has a scoring rate of 110 minutes per goal which is by far one of the best in the Premier League when compared with other players who have scored over 100 goals.
However, the last season in particular was one filled with extreme highs and lows for the Argentinian. The significant rise of Gabriel Jesus did affect Aguero’s game time but yet he managed to score 31 goals in 42 matches.
A move to Real Madrid can be a good decision for Aguero since he is unlikely to be okay with playing second fiddle to Jesus. Guardiola has been quite impressed with the young striker, so a move for Aguero might be the only way he can clock more minutes on the field.
The attack force at Real Madrid look a bit shaky despite enjoying a fabulous season. Alvaro Morata is rumoured to seek an exit from Santiago Bernabeu this summer while Benzema too, is linked with a move away from the club.
Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane has been able to extract the best out of star striker Cristiano Ronaldo by making him rest more often. He is likely to continue the same – which makes the addition of a new reliable striker paramount – and Aguero seems like the perfect solution.
He is only 28 and can provide at least a couple of years of top-tier football. If Real Madrid manage to secure the deal, it will be a good move for the Spanish club.
