Tottenham Hotspur are on the look-out to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s right back Serge Aurier as a replacement for Manchester City-bound Kyle Walker.

According to a report by The Mirror, Serge Aurier could leave PSG and join Spurs this summer as reports surface of Manchester City getting closer to signing Kyle Walker. Despite slapping a £60 million price tag, Pep Guardiola has maintained an interest in getting Walker to join his squad.

Aurier has just two years left on his contract with PSG and is understood to have a preference to leave the French club this season and explore options abroad even after being offered a new contract. In fact, the 24-year-old was earlier a target for Arsenal when he was preparing to move from Toulouse back in 2015.

That deal did not go through and Aurier then moved to PSG for £7 million.

Although the Ivory Coast international has been a regular player since his arrival, he has been forced to share time with Belgian international Thomas Meunier last season, and he will be interested in moving to a side wherein a similar situation does not happen.

While Spurs do have Trippier and talented youngster Kyle Walker-Peters, Mauricio Pochettino seems to be keen on bringing in a bigger replacement and Aurier is on top of that list.

Aurier has pace, power and a great attacking threat which will make him one of the most ideal replacements for Walker, who has been arguably one of the best right-backs in the Premier League last season, and it looks like Manchester City will bag him soon.

Pep Guardiola is understood to be on the verge of signing Walker after spending quite some time in heavy pursuit of the Englishamn. With Zabaleta set to move away from the Etihad stadium this summer, City seem to have found the ideal relacement in Walker.

Although he is already 27, he still has many years ahead of him and will also bring vital Premier League experience in the back line. Walker is adept at providing cover going backwards and also support when pushing on the front foot, and Guardiola has always encouraged players like that.

Signing Walker may not guarantee immediate success but Guardiola has endured a trophy-less season and he needs to make the most of every opportunity he gets to sign players best suited to his playing style to ensure maximum chances of a positive result.
