Transfer Rumour: Liverpool agree personal terms with Mohamed Salah

Liverpool have reportedly agreed on personal terms with AS Roma’s Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah but are yet to discuss a fee with the Italian club.

According to a report by Sky Sports, Liverpool are edging closer to signing Mohamed Salah as they are understood to have discussed personal terms with the winger, but are yet to open talks with AS Roma to agree upon a fee.

Liverpool had a bid of £34 million rejected earlier as Roma are likely to increase the price after recognizing that Jurgen Klopp is rather serious about having Salah at Anfield next season.

The former Chelsea forward joined Roma for £13 million only last summer after spending a season on loan prior to that. Salah’s career at Chelsea fizzled out and hence he was sent on loan to Fiorentina before joining Roma.

His performances took a turn for the better once he joined Roma. He has managed to score 19 goals in 39 appearances last season as they pushed to win the Serie A title. He was also named as the club’s player of the year in his first campaign.

The Egyptian has also developed into a dependable goalscorer in Italy who can come handy in even the most dire situations. In fact, his tally of 19 goals in all competitions last term was the best of his career to date.

He can be lightning-fast while surging forward and his finishing skills have only gotten better at Roma. Salah’s trademark move is a calmly slotted low strike with his left foot into the far corner. He is adept at scoring with his right foot as well.

Liverpool can use Salah effectively during counter-attacking and he can help them transition more smoothly. Sadio Mane has been an asset for the Merseyside club in that regard as he provides width and space, and Salah can do the same.

However, the Reds are unable to penetrate strongly while playing with Sane but Salah can be especially handy in that regard. If he moves to Anfield he will become Liverpool’s second signing of the summer window, following Chelsea’s Dominic Solanke.

Jurgen Klopp is also likely to sign Southampton’s highly in-demand defender Virgil van Dijk after earlier reports suggested that the Holland international wants to move to Liverpool.
