Manchester United are still trying to work out transfer deals with Benfica’s Victor Lindelof and Ederson
According to a report by The Gambling Times, Manchester United have had their sight set on both Lindelof and Ederson for a while now, and are still actively pursuing a deal to sign them.
Earlier, there were reports of Nelson Semedo also being on that list, but now he appears to be signing elsewhere. Also, United did not seem as interested in signing him when compared to Manchester City and Barcelona.
Both the Swedish centre-half Lindelof and Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson are high on Jose Mourinho’s list as the United manager has been targeting them for a long time now. In fact, United scouts have been present at several Benfica games to note their performances.
Lindelof has been on United’s radar since January. However, right now, Ederson seems more valuable for the Red Devils what with reports of David De Gea being on his way to play for Real Madrid.
Will Ederson get first-team playing rights though? That seems to be the question on everyone’s minds since Mourinho already has a good tried and tested goalkeeper in Sergio Romero, if De Gea does choose to say goodbye to Old Trafford this summer.
When it comes to Lindelof, he does seem to be excellent on paper, but Mourinho will have to bear in mind that this can potentially be the player he partners Eric Bailly with, who has been brilliant this season.
The 22-year-old is also said to be pursued by Paris Saint-Germain, but the youngster prefers a move to Manchester United.
It is understood that United and Benfica have already agreed on terms, but the price is an issue since Benfica want nearly £50million while United are not too keen to go beyond £40million. Yet, a deal is said to be on the cards once that gets ironed out.
The deal with Ederson has not been confirmed yet, and is still in the talking stages. But then, that is something that might go through only if De Gea confirms that he will be leaving, and as of yet that has not happened.
