Manchester United are reportedly the latest club to join Chelsea in the pursuit of Federico Bernardeschi, with Jose Mourinho eyeing additions to the attack.

According to a Tribal Football report, Italian transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla has speculated that Manchester United have emerged as a contender for Fiorentina winger Federico Bernardeschi. The Italian has been tailed most vehemently by Chelsea in recent times while Juventus, Inter and AC Milan are also showing interest.

Federico Bernardeschi has grown into a full-fledged Italian international and has blossomed into a great player since emerging from the youth academy at Fiorentina. This season alone, he has 13 goals and 5 assists for the Viola and has aided his side’s push towards the upper echelons of the Serie A table.

At 23, the player is billed for even bigger things and his performances have caught the eye of people, with top clubs like Chelsea, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan all vying for his signature. However, Chelsea have been the front-runners along with Juventus in this race for quite a while.

One can also point out the fact that both the clubs are already on-course to win the title in their respective leagues and would also be able to offer Bernardeschi regular first-team football, which could be a huge tipping point in the favour of the aforementioned suitors.

Chelsea, especially, is searching for a player that could support Eden Hazard upfront on the other side of the attack, with Diego Costa or a new potential striker upfront. While Pedro has done a commendable job so far, Antonio Conte would love to add the explosive 23-year-old Italian international to his arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

However, a new club has joined Chelsea and others in the pursuit of the 23-year-old. Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has also entered the race and wants to bring the attacker to Old Trafford.

Manchester United’s interest in the player is quite interesting, given the fact that Sir Alex Ferguson attempted to sign the player when Bernardeschi was just a 16-year-old youngster, who chose to turn it down and continue at the club.

As per the Italian journalist, United’s representatives have already established contact with Fiorentina so as to negotiate a price for the player while the club has also opened talks with the player’s representatives as well.

Manchester United, as of now, seems like a very intriguing project. Jose Mourinho is set to oversee a summer clearout at the club and Bernardeschi could be just one of the many big names to join the club this summer.
