Juventus, Inter and AC Milan are reportedly set to battle for Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas in the summer.

Spanish publication AS have reported that Juventus, Inter and AC Milan are all showing an interest in Keylor Navas, and are set to spark a battle to sign the Costa Rican goalkeeper from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

Navas has endured a poor campaign for Real Madrid. Following a strong 2015/16, in which he was rated as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe, 2016/17 has been a season of struggles for the 30-year-old, riddled with uncharacteristic mistakes.

As a result, while he still remains the first-choice goalkeeper for Real Madrid, he no longer has Zinedine Zidane’s full faith, having been rotated with Kiko Casilla from time to time. Numbers tell a grim tale too, with Navas keeping just 5 clean sheets in 29 matches in all competitions, conceding more than one goal per game.

Meanwhile, Navas hasn’t been convincing enough either in his limited opportunities, meaning Zidane is now ready to recruit a top quality goalkeeper in the summer. The likes of David De Gea, Hugo Lloris, Thibaut Courtois and Bernd Leno are all being eyed, with the Manchester United shot stopper being their top priority.

With a goalkeeper now looking set to arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu when the transfer window opens in June, Navas is expected to be the casualty with Casilla becoming the understudy to whoever joins Real Madrid in the summer.

In that case, three Italian heavyweights are expected to be lying in the wings to make a move for Navas, with Juventus, Inter and AC Milan all being keen on signing him.

Juventus are believed to be laying the succession plans for captain Gianluigi Buffon, who is approaching the end of his stellar career slowly. They are thus, keeping an eye on several top quality goalkeepers, with Navas the latest to be identified as a potential target.

Meanwhile, Inter are keen to cash in on Samir Handanovic, who is being linked with a summer move away from the club. Should that happen, Navas will be the top target for the Nerazzurri, who remain impressed with him despite his poor showings for Real Madrid this season.

AC Milan, too, are in an uncertain situation as far as the future of Gianluigi Donarumma is concerned. Talks on a renewing his deal with the Rossoneri have gone nowhere, and he is also being monitored by several club across Europe. If the teenager leaves, Navas could be headed to San Siro come June.

It now remains to be seen how things develop in the coming months, but for now it is looking likely that Navas could be headed out the exit door at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer.
