Real Madrid are willing to offload both Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez in order to sign Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois, according to reports
According to the Guardian, Real Madrid have long been pursuing Eden Hazard – who they see as the latest Galactico – and will attempt to sign both him and his teammate Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea this summer.
They state that Real have already made contact with Hazard’s representatives and they do not see the presence of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo as a hindrance to Hazard’s position in their team.
They also claim that in order to free up space in the squad for Hazard, as well as raise funds, Real are considering selling both Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez, with Morata even possibly being offered as a part of the deal to bring Hazard to the Bernabeu.
Morata has been a rumoured target for Chelsea for a couple of years now and it was even claimed that the Blues attempted to sign him in the summer before the Spaniard decided to return to Real Madrid.
However, things have not gone to plan for Morata and the forward has only managed to make 9 starts in the La Liga this season, with Zidane preferring to use the likes of Lucas Vazquez instead of the 24 year old.
This has led to reports that Morata has decided to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season with some reports even claiming that the Spaniard wants to reunite with former manager Antonio Conte at Chelsea.
James Rodriguez was also heavily linked with a move to Chelsea and Manchester United back in January after failing to break into Zidane’s first team plans but decided to stay and fight for his place, although things have not improved since then.
The Colombian midfielder has made only 7 starts in the La Liga this season and the Guardian claim that Madrid are willing to either sell him on or offer him to Chelsea as a part of the deal for Hazard, despite Rodriguez’s insistence that he wants to stay at the Bernabeu.
Madrid have also been heavily linked with a move for Thibaut Courtois and given Keylor Navas’ struggles this season, it seems very likely that they will put in a bid for the Chelsea goalkeeper this summer.
Courtois himself has said that he is happy to stay at Chelsea but is yet to sign a new contract, with his current deal running out in 2019. One way or another, there could be a deal struck between Madrid and Chelsea for one or more players this summer.
