Barcelona are reportedly considering making a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the summer.

According to a report by French outlet Le10Sport, Barcelona are keeping tabs on Adrien Rabiot and are weighing up a summer move for the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder. The 21-year-old is also being followed by Tottenham Hotspur.

Rabiot is one of the most promising young midfielders in the world and his stock has constantly been on the rise ever since he made his senior debut for PSG as a 17-year-old. In the four years that have followed Rabiot has established himself as one of the fundamental components in the club’s first team setup.

Still only 21, Rabiot has already played close to 150 games for Les Parisiens and he has four Ligue 1 titles in his kitty as well. The no-nonsense midfielder is known for his smart tackling and tenacious pressing off the ball and quick rotation on it, and has become one of the go-to men for PSG boss Unai Emery.

With Rabiot turning in several impressive performances in the heart of the PSG midfield this season, he is starting to become a highly sought after player in the transfer market. Several clubs across Europa have followed his progress in recent months, with Tottenham in particular showing a lot of interest in signing him.

However, the North London club could face a battle on their hands in pursuit of Rabiot, with Barcelona also registering an interest in the youngster. The Spanish champions are in the market to find a long-term successor to Andres Iniesta with the Barca skipper reaching the twilight of his career.

And while Barcelona have been heavily linked with Rabiot’s teammate, Marco Verratti in recent months but have now turned their attention towards the 21-year-old instead. Recent reports have indicated that Lionel Messi is against the signing of Verratti due to his off-the-field image.

Additionally, Barcelona are convinced of Rabiot’s qualities having monitored his progress closely in recent seasons and have, thus, identified as a viable candidate to succeed Iniesta. They are now mulling the ideal strategy to launch a move for him, as he is a player who PSG will be unwilling to let go of.

Having said that, Rabiot possesses all the abilities to be the long-term solution in midfield for Barcelona and still has a lot of development ahead of him. It now remains to be seen how things develop in the coming months, with Barcelona keen on signing him.
