Real Madrid have made Eden Hazard a top transfer target this summer, according to reports in Spain.
According to Diario Gol, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and and the technical secretary are already planning which targets they want to pursue this summer and Eden Hazard, David De Gea and Paulo Dybala are at the top of their list.
Madrid will likely see the departure of some of their players, such as Karim Benzema and Isco, and have been linked with a host of names over the last few weeks such as Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic.
Diario Gol claim that Madrid have recognised that the team needs reinforcements and that Perez has promised Zidane a world-class player in each area of the pitch, as they look to transform the Real Madrid team with what Diario have dubbed a “total revolution”
The report states that Madrid want to bring back the glory days when the team was filled with superstars and that they hope that this will make the basis of a side that can dominate the La Liga and Europe for years to come.
They further state that despite all the high-profile targets Los Blancos are chasing, Eden Hazard tops the list by a big margin and that the club will go all out to try and sign the Belgian superstar this summer.
Hazard has been back to his best this season after having a terrible campaign last year as Chelsea put up one of the weakest title defences in recent memory – although Leicester look like they will beat that feat this year.
The Belgian has been one of Chelsea’s best players alongside Diego Costa and David Luiz, and has picked up 10 goals and 3 assists in 24 starts in the English Premier League this season, as Antonio Conte’s men look to clinch the title in the manager’s first season in charge.
Those statistics are impressive on their own, but Hazard has also been registering an average of 2.07 key passes, 2.21 chances created and a whopping 5 successful takeons per 90 minutes, according to Squawka.
It is no surprise that he has popped back on the radar of Real Madrid and given that Zinedine Zidane has always been a massive admirer of the brilliant winger, it seems likely that Madrid will be keen on signing him this summer.
However, as Diario Gol have noted, Hazard is such a key figure to Chelsea and Antonio Conte that it will be highly difficult to sign him. Chelsea are in no need of finances and may reject any offers outright if they so choose.
Given that Hazard’s contract runs until 2020, it only makes things even more complicated. However, should Hazard himself insist on a move if Real come calling, things may be different. While there will definitely be interest in the winger, it doesn’t seem likely that Chelsea will end up selling their star player.
