Napoli defender Elseid Hysaj’s agent recently spoke about the possibility of his client moving to the Premier League in the summer.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, in a recent interview with Radio CRC, Hysaj’s agent Mario Giuffredi refused to rule out a possible move to Premier League giants Chelsea or Arsenal for his client, but only in the summer transfer window.
He said, “Chelsea and Arsenal? We are happy to hear his name being linked to these big clubs, let’s see what happens this summer. At the moment, Hysaj is fully concentrated on Napoli and he wants to finish off this season on a high.”
The Albanian International has caught the eye of many of Europe’s top clubs with his fantastic performances in the Italian top flight over the course of the past two seasons. Barcelona and Chelsea were just a few of the clubs reported to be interested in the 22-year-old.
Manchester United were rumoured to be preparing a £26 million bid for the former Empoli fullback, in order to bring him to the club this month. But his agent ruled out a move in this mid-season transfer window and expressed his dislike for it.
He said: “For me the January transfer market does not exist, all the big moves happen during the summer transfer window. Once the season begins, coaches want to have concentrated players. The January transfer windows adds extra problems for coaches and this is why I don’t like it”
This is positive news for both Conte and Wenger and all the other clubs that deem themselves suitors for Hysaj. Both Chelsea and Arsenal have been searching for defensive reinforcements since the summer transfer window.
Chelsea have been unable to sign any defensive reinforcements this transfer window, with Nathan Ake the only defender coming in. Branislav Ivanovic is edging closer to a Zenit St.Petersburg and Conte is looking for top quality reinforcements to provide him with more options.
Arsenal are looking for reinforcements as well. They have recently been reported to have agreed personal terms with Roma’s Kostas Manolas for a summer move and Hysaj’s arrival would be a significant upgrade on the likes of Monreal, Debuchy and Gibbs.
