Robin van Persie is being targeted by Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo, while Didier Drogba is also on the verge of a move to Brazil.
According to the Goal Brazil, Drogba has been offered £96,000 by Corinthians and although the money is nothing compared to what the former Chelsea striker would earn in China, the Brazilians have added a lot of perks which Goal claim have piqued the striker’s interest.
In a photo provided on the link above, Goal claim to have obtained the details of the contract offered to Drogba – who recently successfully fought corruption charges – by Corinthians. Drogba is being offered, among other things, a big residence, an armoured SUV to transport him wherever he needs to go and a “special bonus” if he finishes as top scorer in the Brazilian league.
The length of the contract is specified as one year and considering Drogba is now 38 years old that should not be too much of an issue for the Chelsea legend. There has been no comments from Drogba’s side on whether or not he will make the move, but the contract revealed by Goal looks quite legitimate.
Drogba will be one of two high profile signings by Brazilian teams, as Robin van Persie is apparently a target for Sao Paulo. According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Sao Paulo’s representatives have already been in touch with Robin van Persie’s entourage with a view to bringing the 33-year old to Brazil.
Former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, who shocked the world when he made the switch from the Emirates to Old Trafford, is currently plying his trade with Turkish side Fenerbahce. Van Persie has 18 months remaining on his contract, but it is unlikely Fenerbahce will demand a huge fee for him.
Van Persie has had his fair share of struggles in Turkey after falling out with Fenerbahce’s manager last season, and he has failed to be as prolific as he was in the past. The Dutchman has only two goals in the last seven games for Fenerbahce and both those goals came during their match against Amed Sportif earlier this week.
Sao Paulo’s President Carlos Augusto even confirmed their interest in the Dutchman, saying “Van Persie is a very talented football player, and he is a world-class player who stood out in the World Cup. If there was a possibility, we would definitely sign him.”
It appears that old rivalries could well be ignited if both Drogba and van Persie move to Brazil and it would definitely give the nation some much needed cheer after the tragedy that struck Chapecoense last year.
