Tottenham have reportedly jumped ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign impressive Inter Milan talent Andrea Pinamonti.
Italian publication Calciomercato have claimed that Tottenham are now leading the race to sign Inter Milan forward Andrea Pinamonti. The impressive youngster has been on the radar of many clubs, with Chelsea primed to make a move for the 17-year-old. But Spurs seemed to have jumped ahead of their rivals for the Italian.
Andrea Pinamonti has been hailed as a young prodigy, primarily due to his prolific nature through the various age groups for the Nerazzurri. This season, the 17-year-old has notched up 14 goals and 1 assist in just 13 outings for the Under-19 squad in the Primavera C league; brilliant numbers for the striker.
His form for the Under-19s has seen him get promoted to the senior squad with Pinamonti making his senior debut for Inter in the Europa League already. Though the player is yet to make his Serie A debut, it is only a matter of time before he gets his chance.
The player has been linked to the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Juventus and even Bayer Leverkusen. But it seems Chelsea and Tottenham are the two teams with more credible interest in the 17-year-old.
For starters, both Chelsea and Tottenham need strikers to add to their roster. Chelsea only have Diego Costa, who looks set for an exit in the near future, and Michy Batshuayi, who has failed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge.
Tottenham, similar to their London rivals, have a world-class striker in Harry Kane but the back-up striker Vincent Janssen, who, like Batshuayi, joined in the summer, has failed to establish himself at White Hart Lane.
But, at 17, Pinamonti is likely to be one for the future. Tottenham, though, are in the lead with the Spurs camp in talks with the player’s agent, who also represents Andrea Ranocchia, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham as well.
Chelsea will have to act quick if they are to avoid losing the 17-year-old to their local rivals. It will be interesting to see what valuation of Pinamonti is quoted by Inter Milan and an amount in what region would be needed to get the Nerazzurri considering the prospect of selling the Italian.
