Arsenal and Manchester City are reportedly set to go head-to-head as they vie for the signature of Paris Saint-Germain star Grzegorz Krychowiak.

The Sun have claimed that Arsenal and Manchester City are interested in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak. The midfielder has reportedly been put on the market by PSG, and the Polish international could very well be heading to the Premier League.

Grzegorz Krychowiak is a Polish international who arrived at Paris Saint-Germain from Sevilla this past summer in a near £30 million deal. The midfielder joined his Sevilla boss Unai Emery at Parc des Princes, but has failed to make the same impact as he had in La Liga.

The 26-year-old has made 10 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG, with a total of 610 minutes of playing time out of a possible 1710, which is unlikely to satisfy the midfielder. Also, the player is yet to score his first goal for his new club and has failed to create a single goal, despite playing under a familiar boss in Unai Emery.

The Sun report that PSG have put the midfielder on the market, along with Jese Rodriguez. The two are now set to leave the club, despite arriving at the club less than seven months ago.

Arsenal were linked with Krychowiak during his Sevilla days and are now in need of a holding midfielder, with Elneny away at the African Cup of Nations, Jack Wilshere on loan at AFC Bournemouth and Santi Cazorla reeling with injury issues.

Manchester City too have injury issues to take care of. Vincent Kompany has been injury-prone during his entire career and his history has maintained its course under Pep Guardiola this season. Ilkay Gundogan is out for a long time while Fernandinho has become notorious for accumulating red cards and suspensions.

Krychowiak can also play as a centre-back and his versatility is sure to be an added asset to both the sides. However, the asking price has not been mentioned and one assumes that neither Arsenal nor Manchester City would be too interested in the player if PSG ask for a fee around the £30 million they shelled out in the first place.

Also, Krychowiak has featured for PSG in the Champions League and will not be eligible to play for either of Arsenal or Manchester City in Europe, if he does make the move. The aforementioned point might prove to be the deciding factor in the interest culminating into a real offer this winter.

But it is thought that both the clubs are likely to prioritise the league, which may compel them to go in for the player, if the price is right. Krychowiak is technically able to fit into both Wenger and Guardiola’s plans and would be a valuable addition wherever he ends up.
