Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez is pessimistic of landing PSG attacker Jese Rodriguez, given interest from other top European outfits.

According to Spanish daily La Provincia (h/t ESPN), Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez is pessimistic of his side’s chances of signing former Real Madrid attacker and PSG flop Jese Rodriguez due to the interest of the likes of Liverpool, AC Milan and AS Roma. Ramirez said:

“Jese Rodriguez is a great footballer. He wants to come to Las Palmas, but he is owned by PSG and earns a salary that is of his level – and that is very high.

Liverpool, Milan and Roma want Jese and are ready to pay what he earns. We cannot afford that salary. With respect to other clubs, we are at a disadvantage and hence we have to wait. But we don’t want to create false expectations.”

The Spaniard impressed with his cameos for the first-team and was a key player for the reserves side at the Santiago Bernabeu. There was an exuberant hype when Jese switched boats from Real Madrid to Paris St. Germain in the summer for €25 million.

However, five months into life in France, and Jese is already being linked with a move away from the club. After scoring just once in nine matches, PSG manager Unai Emery seems to have had it with the 23-year-old.

In an interview with Le Parisien, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi admitted that signing Jese was a mistake. The former Real Madrid attacker’s future was also in jeopardy due to his extravagant lifestyle.

The Sun reported that the player made no effort to learn French and refused to go house hunting in Paris amid uncertainty over his future. Instead, he decided to remain holed up in a luxury five-star hotel.

Liverpool are one of the sides vying for the player, but Rodriguez may struggle to fit into Klopp’s way of life at Anfield. The German demands his players to behave professionally, and failure to do that could see the end of one’s career at Liverpool.

Thus, while there has been a reported interest, it seems unlikely Liverpool will table a genuine offer. Jese’s lack of form is all the more a concern, and Klopp will definitely not want to gamble on an unproven striker.
