Transfer Rumour: PSG plot £50 million summer move for Tottenham superstar Dele Alli

Ligue 1 side Paris Saint Germain are reportedly preparing an audacious£50 million bid to lure Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli away from the White Hart Lane in the summer.

According to John Cross of the Daily Mirror, the French side are looking to bolster their options in the middle of the park, and have eyed the Tottenham midfielder as the ideal lynchpin to turn fortunes around for the Parisiens.

The defending Ligue 1 champions have not had the best of starts to the season as they find themselves reeling in third place, four points adrift of league leaders OGC Nice. PSG also failed to win the Champions League group as they were held to a disappointing draw at Parc des Princes against minnows Ludogorets.

Alli would undoubtedly add guile to the PSG midfield, and given his tender age of 20, he can be part of the system for at least the next decade. The omnipresent Marco Verratti will find an ideal midfield partner and together, the duo could form one of the most threatening central midfield pairings in Europe.

The 20-year-old, however, is not likely to come on the cheap. After his breakout season in the league in the 2015/16 campaign, Alli has been touted as one of the next big things in English football. He racked up 10 goals and 7 assists last term and played in all but five of Tottenham’s league games.

After moving to North London for a bargain fee of £5 million, Alli is now worth ten times the amount in the span of one glorified season in the world’s most competitive league. This time around, the midfielder has struggled to replicate the form of last season as he has only managed to find the back of the net just thrice in 12 games, coupled with a solitary assist.

PSG will be receiving stiff competition from 2015/16 Champions League winners Real Madrid who are keen on signing the 20-year-old. Alli was scouted extensively by the Spanish club during the back end of the season, and are likely to come in with a bid should the player be made available for sale.
