Chelsea are reportedly preparing a €45m bid in order to land Fiorentina striker Federico Bernardeschi with the Viola ready to cash in on the attacker.
Italian publication Calciomercato are claiming that Chelsea are readying a bid to land Fiorentina striker Federico Bernardeschi. The 22-year-old, who has been on the radar of Chelsea for a long time, is reportedly set to leave the Viola with the club ready to cash in on the player, and the Blues are preparing a €45m swoop to sign the striker.
Federico Bernardeschi is a 22-year-old Italian international who has come up through the ranks at Fiorentina after joining the club at the age of nine. The player is a versatile forward, who can play on either side of the wing and even as a second striker.
The left-footed youngster has been at his most prolific, though, while being deployed on the left wing, with the current season yielding 7 of his 8 goals from there. The 8 goals scored mean that the 22-year-old has already bettered all of his previous campaign’s returns with more than half of the season still to go.
The player’s ability to provide the goals from the wing makes him a potent attacking threat and Chelsea seem interested in acquiring the player’s services. The Blues were linked during the summer and the recent updates have reported that Conte’s side retains interest in the player.
And now, as per the calciomercato report, Fiorentina are ready to cash in on the 22-year-old, who still has around three years remaining on his current deal that expires in 2019. Chelsea are ready to pounce on the opportunity and are readying a mammoth €45m bid, in order to secure a transfer for the 22-year-old.
But the transfer may have to wait a while. While Conte wants the player in January, it is reported that the move may not be possible before the summer of 2017 with Diego Costa’s future still up in the air. It is thought that Conte has earmarked Bernardeschi as the replacement for Diego Costa and the man to lead the Blues front-line under Conte.
With Conte being a huge admirer of the 22-year-old’s talents and the Viola now prepared to cash in on the player, the transfer almost seems more a question of when rather than if. The player is yet to justify the reported value of the bid but his current campaign has shown signs that we may just be looking at the tip of the iceberg.
