Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has surprisingly backed his cross-town rivals to overcome their bad form and qualify for the Champions League next season
Guardiola has a chequered past with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho from their time in La Liga. United are also one of the biggest rivals for the blue side of Manchester, where the Catalan manager is currently employed.
However, all of this didn’t stop the former Barcelona manager from stepping up to support the Red Devils. Guardiola recently stated that despite their poor run of results this season, United can still qualify for the Champions League next season.
“How they played lately, yes,” Guardiola replied when asked about United’s chances of making the top four, according to Goal.
“I saw the games against Stoke, Burnley and another one at Old Trafford. They deserve by far to win those games. But football is like this.
“Of course United have the quality, for the history, the managers and the players to be there.
