Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are among a host oftop clubs showing interest in Atalanta defender Mattia Caldara.

According to Italian publication La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Atalanta defender Mattia Caldara is attracting interest from a host of top European clubs. The 22-year-old, who has been in impressive form this season, is now also on the radar of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Mattia Caldara is a 22-year-old Italian defender who has come up through the ranks at Atalanta. The player broke through into the first-team at the club in the 2013-14 season. However, Caldara was then sent out on loan for two seasons in a row to Trapani and Cesena respectively in order to gain some valuable first-team experience.

The Italian has been included in the first-team setup at Atalanta in the current campaign and has impressed in his outings so far in the Serie A. Caldara has appeared in 7 league games for his side, starting all of them. He has won the Man of the Match award on 2 of those occasions, while also adding to Atalanta’s attack with 3 goals to his name.

The 22-year-old’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with Italian champions Juventus reportedly interested in player’s services. And now, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have joined the queue for the player, with Manchester City also reportedly interested in Caldara.

While Arsenal have added to their defence in the summer and seem to be have enough depth at the moment, Chelsea and Manchester United can both make their case for additions to the defence. Manchester United, though, seem to be desperate to add to their back line, with a number of injuries to their defenders.

Caldara, who has also represented Italy at the U21 level, has only recently established himself in the first-team setup of an in-form team in Atalanta and may opt to stay at the club at this stage.

Even though the interest from the Premier League heavyweights may be tempting, the player could learn from the past mistakes by others and not affect his growth by making a move too early.
