Transfer News: Liverpool and Tottenham to go head-to-head for Ante Coric, club ready to sell

Liverpool and Tottenham are set to battle each other in order to land Dinamo Zagreb maestro Ante Coric, who is reportedly on the market

Squawka have claimed that Liverpool and Tottenham are showing interest Dinamo Zagreb’s Croatian midfielder Ante Coric. The player has, supposedly, been put on the market by his club and could be set to move in January with Premier League the most likely destination.

Ante Coric is a 19-year-old Croatian attacking midfielder who joined Dinamo Zagreb in 2013 and has already gone on to feature for the senior squad of his nation with 2 appearances to his name.

The player has been a steady feature in the Dinamo side since his move, and has appeared in 13 of the 16 league matches for his club, with a return of 2 goals and 3 assists.

The player was rumoured to be on the move in the summer in a £15m move to Manchester City, a move he ultimately rejected himself upon being made aware of Guardiola’s intentions to send the player out on loan post his move to the Etihad.

Liverpool and Tottenham also held talks with the player over a move in the summer, but Coric had opted to stay at Dinamo and review his options in January. And now, the player, who is contracted to the club until 2020, is reportedly set to leave the club in January with Dinamo Zagreb now open to bids for the player.

The duo of Liverpool and Tottenham are reportedly interested in earning a move for the talented whizkid and while Manchester City are not likely to reignite their interest in the player, Everton have made an approach for the player and aim to lure the player to the blue half of Merseyside with the promise of regular first-team football, something which Liverpool and Tottenham may not be able to provide at this stage.

The move makes sense for all the three clubs. Liverpool need to add depth into their thin squad, Coric would slot right into Pochettino’s philosophy of playing young and impressive talent and Everton would get a player of amazing calibre into their squad, something which Koeman could require as he looks to build Everton into one of the elite squads of the Premier League.

Coric’s exact destination may not be entirely sure but his move to England is all but certain. And, whoever secures the player’s services could be getting a gem of a player for the next few years.
