Arsenal are reportedly scouting Olympiacos’ highly-rated youngster Panagiotis Retsos, who has made a brilliant start to the current campaign.

Goal have claimed that Arsenal are interested in Olympiacos defender Panagiotis Retsos. The 18-year-old has managed to grab the eyeballs after a brilliant start to the campaign with the youngster successfully breaking into the Greek side’s first-team setup in the current season.

Retsos has already accrued nine first-team appearances for Olympiacos in the current season in all competitions and has impressed with his defensive work.

The player was in action during the international break for Greece’s U-19 side as he led his side to a 2-0 win over Wales in the European Championship Qualifiers. As per the report, scouts from Arsenal were present and watched the promising youngster strut his stuff for the U-19s against his Welsh counterparts.

One of they key features of Retsos’ play which is also a huge bonus to his portfolio, is the 18-year-old’s ability to play all across the back four, which is a true testament to his versatility. Retsos has seen himself deployed at left-back recently, owing to the absence of Alberto De La Bella.

The player is currently under contract at Olympiacos with his deal set to expire in 2021. Arsenal have been keeping an eye on many promising players around Europe with the likes of Peter Gwargis, Malang Sarr and others regularly monitored by the Premier League outfit.

That the player has featured in 5 of the 8 league matches for Olympiacos is an indication that Retsos has been able to lock down a regular place in the first-team setup and, perhaps, the starting lineup, albeit for the moment.

As stated above, Arsenal do have a tendency to scout and monitor the progress of promising youngsters all across Europe and this may just be a part of their routine policy or scouting assignments.

Either way, a move seems unlikely in the immediate or near future. But, the player has started drawing attention with his displays and it is not long before other clubs take note of the player’s talent.
