Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw to train on his own at Carrington

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw will train alone at the Aon Training Complex in Carrington this week after missing the trip to Swansea over the weekend.

The majority of players in Jose Mourinho’s first team squad at Manchester United are away on international duty this week. On the other hand, those who have not been picked by their national teams have been given time off to rest.

But, as reported by Daily Mail, Shaw has been placed on an individual training regime at the Carrington training ground. He will be spending the better part of the international break with the left-back aiming to fight his way back to form ahead of the crucial Premier League clash against Arsenal.

As per the report: “Among other things he will work with the physio, in the pool and complete a running programme this week, while Chris Smalling is also thought to be working on a foot problem at the Aon training complex in Carrington.”

Post the 3-1 win against Swansea City on Sunday, Manchester United manager had appeared to hit out at Shaw and Smalling, after claiming in the pre-match interview that Shaw had made himself unavailable for last weekend’s match.

Mourinho said,“ There is a difference between the brave, who want to play at any cost, and the ones for whom a little pain can make a difference. If I were to speak with the many great football people of this team, they will say they played many times without being 100 per cent.”

Shaw had reportedly been suffering from discomfort in his right leg since United’s 2-1 loss to Fenerbahce in the Europa League last Thursday – the same leg that he broke against PSV in Champions League clash last season.

Manchester United currently sit sixth in the Premier League table with 18 points from 11 games so far, eight behind league leaders Liverpool and six behind their next opponents Arsenal. They host the Gunners on 19th November at Old Trafford, eager to continue the winning momentum they gained over the weekend at the Liberty Stadium.
