Liverpool are set to renew their interest in Croatian wonderkid Ante Coric and are reportedly keen to sign the midfielder in the January transfer window, with Premier League leaders Manchester City also actively monitoring his situation.

Coric is one of the most highly rated young footballers in Europe at the moment and the Dinamo Zagreb midfielder has already attracted attention from Premier League clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur also being interested in his signature in the summer. In fact, City even had a £15m bid accepted by Dinamo before Coric decided to stay put.

The 19-year-old later went on to reveal how he was “just a medical away” from signing for the Reds before choosing to stay in Zagreb to play Champions League football. As reported by reliable outlet KopTalk, he had said: “It was up to me to decide, all I needed to do was a medical, but I want to stay at Dinamo, where I can give a lot more. I am happy such big clubs want me but I want to play with my favourite team in the Champions League.”

But according to The Sun, Liverpool and City will rekindle their interest in the talented midfielder as the winter transfer window approaches. And both Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, who are said to be big fans of the youngster, will hope that they can get Coric to put pen to paper come January. Coric has made seven appearances for Dinamo this season, even featuring in Europe’s top competition.

The midfielder has already notched up a couple of outings for his country and was also a part of the national squad for the European Championship earlier this year. Primarily an attacking midfielder, Coric is equally adept at playing in a deeper role when required, which is why he has been hailed as the ‘next Luka Modric’ in his country. The Premier League title challengers will reportedly have to shell out a sum of £10m in order to secure the services of the youngster.
