The Belgian shot-stopper doesn’t seem settled at Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea are now looking to bring in another top Premier League ‘keeper to replace him
Courtois has had an up and down season with the Blues this time around. The statistics showed that he had a very poor shot-to-save ratio of 47% after the first six games. He has improved somewhat in the past three outings, as the Blues have kept clean sheets against Hull City, Leicester City and Manchester United.
Another big problem with Courtois is his open admiration for former club Atletico Madrid, where he spent three seasons on loan. He won his first league title with Atletico, and has also played for them in the Champions League final.
The Blues are now looking at Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart as a back-up and even possibly a replacement for Courtois, according to the Sun. The report adds that it would also help Chelsea meet the quota for homegrown players in the club squad.
Hart is currently on loan at Torino. The Englishman has been one of the best keepers in the league for the past decade and was a core member of the uprising of Man City. However, this all changed with the arrival of new manager Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola immediately sidelined Hart after arriving at the Etihad Stadium, as he preferred a keeper with better distribution skill. The Catalan likes to play from the back, and this is something that he thought wasn’t part of Hart’s game.
Hart was also coming off some poor performances in the European Championships, and all in all it was a summer of woe for the 29-year-old. However, he seems to be bouncing back from that, as he has put in some solid games for Torino in the Serie A.
The Man City keeper also pulled off a fantastic save for England on international duty against Slovenia. All of this means that his stock is on the rise once again, and he could be hot property once his loan spell in Turin ends.
