Turkish giants Fenerbahce could make a move for Cesc Fabregas in January and are currently keeping a close eye on his situation at the club.
It was rumoured that Manchester United were preparing to make a bid for Fabregas. He was also offered to AC Milan and the Blues were rumoured to be pushing for a swap deal with Inter Milan for Marcelo Brozovic. Now according to Goal, Turkish giants Fenerbahce have emerged as possible suitors for Fabregas. According to the report, the former Barcelona midfielder is being monitored by Fenerbahce who are looking to make a big name signing.
The Efsane currently sit at 5th place in the Turkish Super Lig with only 12 points from 8 games, far behind rivals Besiktas, Galatasaray and Istanbul BB. The fans are reportedly frustrated and President Aziz Yildirim is under pressure. So they may make an offer to Chelsea to take the player out on loan in January with an option to buy in the summer.
The 29-year-old has seemingly fallen out of favour with Antonio Conte as the Italian looks to set up his Chelsea squad in the strongest possible manner with the players at his disposal. At the start of the season, the Italian seemed to prefer Oscar and Matic ahead of the Spaniard, despite the duo not performing at optimum levels. Fabregas impressed with performances coming off the bench against Watford and Swansea.
It was after Chelsea’s clash against Leicester City in the EFL Cup where Fabregas scored a brace, which included the winner and also registered and assist, that Antonio Conte was forced to consider giving him a place in the squad and duly handed him a start against former club Arsenal. However, he was taken off after 55 minutes after Chelsea had conceded 3 goals before half time.
Since then, he has been on the bench and didn’t even feature in the matchday squads for Leicester City in Premier League and Manchester United last week due to a muscle injury. Kante and Matic have featured in the middle of the park and done extremely well and there doesn’t seem to be any place for Fabregas in Conte’s 3-4-3 formation. Fabregas had rubbished rumours of his leaving the club and assured Chelsea fans that he and the manager had a good relationship. But the lack of game time and his dwindling influence in the squad could force him to consider a switch away from Stamford Bridge.
