Jose Mourinho, on his return to Stamford Bridge as Manchester United boss, was dished out a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Antonio Conte’s impressive Chelsea. However, one among the major talking points was his conversation with Conte after the final whistle.

Jose Mourinho looked utterly dismayed by Manchester United’s shocking capitulation at Stamford Bridge on Sunday while Antonio Conte enjoyed probably his best game as a Chelsea boss in a 4-0 demolition of the Red Devils. It was a very poor showing all round from the Old Trafford club as they let themselves down in all areas of the park.

However, at the end of a forgetful evening, Mourinho was caught sharing a few words with Conte after the final whistle in an exchange that left viewers all around intrigued. The exchange was presumably in Italian and hence Sky Italia jumped in to clear some of the air surrounding the conversation and stated that it was regarding Conte’s celebrations after Chelsea’s 4th goal.

The United boss was visibly distraught by how things ceased to go according to plan and Conte’s eccentric celebrations pepping the home crowd didn’t help either. When asked about the exchange after the game, the Portuguese refused to spill the beans stating that it was between them. He said, “My words were with Antonio Conte. Not for you.”

In response to the situation, Conte told Sky Italia,”We were 4-0 up and our crowd was flat. I wanted our supporters to applaud our team because they deserved it.” While the content and implications of the exchange can be left for debate, there are bigger issues to sort out for Mourinho and United ahead of the Manchester Derby on Wednesday.

The Red Devils had a good chances to close the gap on their bitter rivals and leaders in the Premier League but the loss will hurt their morale ahead of the EFL cup tie during midweek. It’ll take some motivating from the Portuguese boss to extract the best out of his squad after their shambolic showing at Stamford Bridge.
