Real Madrid are reportedly keeping tabs on FC Metz’ 16-year-old Luxembourg wonderkid Vincent Thill but Los Blancos face competition from Bayern Munich

Ligue 1 is fast becoming a gold mine for young talent. The Hard Tackle has already covered up-and-coming teenage sensations in Alban Lafont and Malang Sarr among others. Now, another name that is gaining traction in the French league is Vincent Thill.

The 16-year-old midfielder joined Ligue 1 side FC Metz in 2012 and made his senior club debut this season as he came on in the final minutes in a 3-0 home defeat to Bordeaux. The player’s talent and potential could be underlined by the fact that Thill became a full-fledged Luxembourg international even before making his senior club debut.

At 16, the player already has 4 senior caps for Luxembourg and has already managed to capture his first senior international goal for his motherland. Thill also became the first player to have been born in the millennium to make his debut in Ligue 1, something which only adds to the growing reputation of the midfielder.

Thill’s agent, Didier Philippe, revealed to Foot Mercato as to the interest of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the player. Didier mentioned how Bayern had an approach rejected for the player while Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on the player.

Didier told Foot Mercato related to Bayern Munich’s interest,“ Bayern thought he was available for an interesting transfer fee, but that was not what Metz had in mind. The transfer did not happen for financial reasons.”

As regards the interest of Real Madrid, Philippe had this to say,“I can confirm that Real Madrid are keeping tabs on him, but I do not know if Zidane personally called him.”

However, Thill’s agent also mentioned the importance of his client agreeing a professional contract with FC Metz in the first place and that the duo are not the only clubs interested in the player. Philippe said,“ There are other big teams as well. You do not see a 16-year-old play in Ligue 1 every day.”

Didier Philippe also rounded off his interview with Foot Mercato by lauding his client’s abilities and giving the world a little insight into the skill-set of Vincent Thill.

“ He is an extraordinary talent, with a magical left foot. He can do incredible things. He obviously has to develop physically, but he is an amazing player when it comes to his vision and the way he sees things.”

It appears like Thill’s debut is just the start of his intriguing footballing journey and that this is just the tip of the iceberg for the player, who is probably the most exciting and highly-rated players to have come out from Luxembourg.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on the 16-year-old and are likely to pounce at the very opportunity to add the midfield prospect within their youth ranks, something which would also add another feather on Thill’s career cap.
